Award / Achievement:
Dr.Pattarapong Keelapang, MD has more than 10 years experience on cardiovascular intervention. Over 1,000 percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) have been successfully performed by him, including interventions in acute heart attack, complex coronary lesions, left main coronary artery disease, and bifurcation lesions. He brought primary coronary intervention to be the first-line, standard treatment for the patients presenting with acute heart attack in Chiang Mai Ram Hospital. Many lives were saved by these emergent and challenging procedures.
By combination of coronary imaging skill in both invasive coronary angiogram and noninvasive CT angiogram, Dr. Pattarapong Keelapang offers the most appropriate investigation to diagnose coronary artery disease for the patients according to advantage and limitation of each imaging technique, and more importantly, to the patients’ preference.
Dr.Pattarapong Keelapang is one of the few cardiologists who have performed coronary angiograms and coronary interventions using radial artery since this approach was firstly introduced into Thailand over 10 years ago. Radial approach allows the patients to have immediate ambulation after procedures, less bleeding complications, and shorter duration of hospital stay.
Dr.Pattarapong Keelapang has been the invited speakers of cardiology meetings in Thailand. He was a commentator of live demo session on the 4th Asian Interventional Cardiovascular Therapeutics (AICT) conference in Bangkok (2008). Currently, he is director of Chiang Mai Ram Heart Center and director of Cardiovascular Catheterization Laboratory, Chiang Mai Ram Hospital, Chiang Mai, Thailand.
