Bone Marrow & Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cell therapy in Thailand is offered for a number of diseases and conditions, including blood disorders, stroke, heart disease and auto-immune diseases. Doctors in Thailand have also helped pioneer the work in stem cell transfers such as using donated blood to develop stem cells which are injected back into a patient, who will  then be able to use his or her own voice after having almost lost the use of vocal chords completely. By using this method, a patient’s own stem cells are used to cure their illness. Within a year, seven patients were cured by this method. Under a Thai Medical Council regulation, which took effect in November 2009, all stem cell research needs to be approved by the council's ethics committee.

In addition, the new regulation controls the use of stem cell treatment in diseases related to veins, organ transplants and heart disorders. As a further precaution, for experimental stem cell treatments, practitioners must register and comply with Council criteria.
