Radiology
Radiology is the branch of medicine that uses ionizing and non-ionizing radiation for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Historically, radiology involved the use of ionizing radiation, including X rays for the diagnosis of disease and X rays and gamma rays for the treatment of disease. More recently, in a number of Thai hospitals radiology has also embraced the use of radioactive isotopes and non-ionizing radiation such as ultrasound waves and nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These technologies are used to detect disease and illness using a number of techniques, including Bone Density Scan, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), X-ray and Ultrasound.
