Breast Cancer Program
Hospitals in Thailand offer state-of-the-art services in delivering breast cancer detection using mammography,
a special type of x-ray imaging used to create detailed images of the breast. Mammography is an x-ray system designed specifically for imaging the breasts, which utilizes low-dose x-ray with high-contrast, high-resolution film.
Successful treatment of breast cancer depends on early diagnosis, and a mammography plays a major role in early detection of breast cancers. Reports show that
a mammography can find 85 to 90 percent of breast cancers in women over 50 and discover a lump up to two years before it can be felt. If a lump is discovered, a mammography can be key tool in evaluating the lump to determine if it is cancerous. If a breast abnormality is found or confirmed with a mammography, additional breast imaging tests such as ultrasound (sonography) or a breast biopsy can and should be performed.
